We are well on our way in our adventures in Art.
PreK has been studying the Color Wheel and have created their own color wheels using the letters of their name.
Kindergarten has been creating their own Rainbow Fish inspired by the Book, Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister. They are creating a 3D aquarium for their Rainbow Fish complete with seaweed, coral and other sea life.
1st grade had been learning about the Russian Abstract Artist, Wassily Kandinsky and his Circle paintings. Students have also been learning about the color wheel. They painted their own color wheels inspired by the concentric circles in Kandinsky's artwork.
2nd grade has been learning about VIncent Van Gogh and looking at his Sunflower paintings. Students have created their own version of Sunflowers in a vase or a large voomed in flower and painting them with watercolor and tempera paints.
3rd grade has been learning about the Huichol Yarn Paintings. Students are creating their own yarn paintings inspired by the yarn paintings of the Huichol people.
4th Grade is also studying the works of Wassily Kandinsky, specifically his geometric paintings using line and shape. Students have learned how to use a compass and ruler in their drawing and have created their own original designs. They have also been learning coloring techniques using colored pencils.
5th grade has been learning about Notans, a Japanese design concept contrasting light and dark, positive and negative shapes. Students have also been learning about the difference between organic and geometric shapes. Students have created their own original designs using cut construction paper.
